Fees and Results
Throughout this site, and in various blog articles, I have cautioned of the dangers of seeking a Michigan DUI lawyer based upon a “low bidder” basis.
The reality is that this advice is most applicable to those who must choose between a budget lawyer or a public defender. To be painfully honest about it, anyone who needs to first ask, “how much do you charge?” will probably have to compromise between the quality of legal help they’d like, and the level that they can afford.
Beyond paying (and getting) too little, however, you can easily pay too much, as well. The world is full of people offering mediocre talent at top-shelf prices.
As much as you don't want cut rate, you don't want to get soaked, either
My team and I provide a safe middle ground - a comfortable balance between "el-cheapo" and getting taken to the cleaners by paying too much.
Low prices don't buy top notch legal representation.
For some things, "good enough" may be good enough. That's not not the case, however, when hiring a Michigan attorney to help fight a DUI (OWI) case.
The WHOLE reason you hire a lawyer in the first place is to produce the best results possible. Therefore, it is getting the better outcome, and not the money saved, that matters most.
I find it baffling that many lawyers will boast about how "aggressive" or "experienced" or "tough" they are, or how "reasonable" their fees are, but won't even publish how much they charge.
What's the big secret?
Our fee schedule is right at the top of my homepage. We don't play games by trying to drag someone in for an appointment to "talk about it" first.
All of our consultations are done over the phone, right when you call.
I'd never walk into an appointment without knowing exactly how much everything is going to cost, and I wouldn't insult anyone else by asking him or her to do that, either.
Here's what we charge for drunk driving cases (as of November 19, 2019):
- 1st Offense DUI: $3800
- High BAC charge: $4300
- 2nd Offense DUI: $4400
- 3rd Offense (felony) DUI: From $7200
In every case, we require ½ down, as a retainer. The other ½ must be paid prior to the conclusion of the case.
The quality of the representation we provide is top-notch. We really get to know our clients, and understand their concerns, and fears and hopes.
We may have to help them adjust their expectations a bit, but helping the client understand every step of the process in a Michigan DUI case is an important part of our job.
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll take care of it” is not what any of our clients want to hear. Our clients are (and if you’re reading this, there’s the proof) those who inquire, investigate, research, and want to know what they’re facing, how things work, what will happen and how the facts of their case fits into the template of the law.
Our clients ask questions, and want detailed answers.
Our clients expect that they're paying to achieve the very best possible outcome in their case,
We provide that. I’m the guy on the iPad at 10:30 at night answering client's questions.
Having completed a formal University post-graduate program of study in alcohol and addiction issues, I don't step into a courtroom as just another lawyer. Instead, I'm a DUI lawyer with the foremost expertise in alcohol issues. No one can protect you through the DUI process more than me and my team.
If results matter to you as much as they do to us, then you should call our office.
